Find out more about Bishop Bonners Cottage Museum Dereham of local history – and the group of volunteers who run it from the Dereham Heritage Trust.  At the AGM in February 2019 the Dereham Antiquarian Society decided to change its name to the Dereham Heritage Trust. Opening Times – Bishop Bonners Cottage Museum Dereham regret that because of COVID-19 (coronavirus), we reluctantly decided that we could not open the Museum to visitors in 2020. We hope to be able to open as usual in May 2021, but do check back here in March. For the rest of 2020, and probably to at least April 2021, we are arranging on line talks for our members and visitors. Please see the Talks page for more details.

Dereham Heritage Trust DHT
The Dereham Heritage Trust [DHT]. From academic beginnings in 1953, the Dereham Heritage Trust (formerly the Dereham Antiquarian Society) is now a friendly group of people who have a shared interest in the history of Dereham and the surrounding areas. Guest speakers are invited each month to give talks at Trinity Methodist Church hall in Theatre Street, Dereham. These meetings are normally held on the second Wednesday each month at 7.30 p.m. Visitors are always welcome with a fee of £3 payable on the door. The Trust manages Bishop Bonners Cottage Museum. Members act as volunteer stewards in the Museum and manage the archive collection. It was founded in 1953 by Canon Noel Boston and Dr. Eric Puddy and is a registered charity (No.293648).
The Dereham Heritage Trust incorporates the Cowper Society of Dereham. There is traditionally a William Cowper evening, around the anniversary of the poet’s death on 25th April 1800. The Arcadian Club, which studies the life and works of the local antiquarian Dr Augustus Jessopp, has also been incorporated into the Dereham Heritage Trust. At the AGM in February 2019 the Dereham Antiquarian Society decided to change its name to the Dereham Heritage Trust.
