The resort at Fritton Lake Resort, part of Sommerleyton Estate, (just under 4 miles from Somerleyton Hall) is unique in East Anglia. Fritton Lake Resort is a private holiday resort within a pioneering thousand acre re-wilding project where adventurous play, wild swimming, robust activities and great food exist and in perfect harmony with a naturalistic grazing system set up to enrich the bio-diversity around Fritton Lake and the wider Somerleyton Estate. Fritton Park Resort is a great destination to stay and out accommodation is both varied and suitable to all comers.
Fritton Lake Accommodation
Fritton Lake family friendly accommodation is set in unspoilt sustainable wildland. Choose from club rooms at the Fritton Arms, luxury farm cottages and woodland cabin retreats. Enjoy king size beds, private bathrooms, wood-burning stoves and woodfired hot tubs. You can stay in our farm cottages and cabin retreats all week, all year round. Our arrival days are a Monday, Friday or Saturday.
The Clubhouse hotel rooms are open from Thursdays up to a maximum of 3-nights. The Clubhouse at the Fritton Arms offers an expertly prepared, locally sourced, seasonal menu. We are open from Thursday to Sunday and all week during the school holidays. Our guests have full membership access to the club and all its facilities during their stay, including a 22m heated swimming pool, wild swimming and water sports on the lake, grass and clay tennis, kids play area and pool in acres of wildland ready for you to explore. We have a full activity time-timetable including paddle boarding, yoga and nature safaris that you can book online in advance of your stay.

JOIN THE RESTORATION EFFORT – Re-wilding – Fritton Lake is part of a pioneering 1000 acre re-wilding project at the forefront of the Wild East Foundation. We are allowing nature to take the lead in eco-restoration so to create a ‘wildland’ for all our owners and guests to enjoy. Our passionate and expert guides are offering tours of the project on foot, by jeep and boat to introduce re-wilding and wild foraging along the way. The tours are designed to provoke thought and debate and for the conscientious some light restoration work. Full tours will include eating out in the wild as part of the experience.DISCOVER LOCAL PRODUCE – Vineyard & Brewery Tours – Food and hospitality is central to Fritton Lake. Find out more about our emerging food and drink scene here in the Wild East of England. Together with our more illustrious breweries lead by Adnams, we are delighted to offer group tours of a selection of local breweries and vineyards to hear from their passionate owners and to taste fantastic locally sourced produce.
ENJOY THE RIDE – Pony Holidays – Formerly a farmstead, Fritton Lake is blessed with wonderful stables. For a small extra charge you can bring your pony on holiday and either enjoy a guided ride around the lakeside woodland or brush up on your show-jumping and dressage. Please note these option is best suited to those staying in our farm cottages.
GET FIT AT FRITTON – Triathlon Training – Sport, health and well-being are core to your stay here at Fritton Lake… Whilst many of us enjoy a light jog along the woodland path or a cool swim in the lake, there are some who yearn for more. Fritton Lake holds an established triathlon as well as swim and run events throughout the year. Dedicated training weekends are available with expert guidance within the 3 disciplines of a triathlon, making it the perfect place to hone your own fitness.
SURROUNDING AREA – Explore Somerleyton Hall and Gardens – Fritton Lake sits as part of the Somerleyton country estate. Somerleyton Hall and Gardens is just under four miles away and is open from Easter to September inclusive. One of the great Victorian country houses sits almost unreal in the Arcadian park surrounded by 12 acres of arboretum and formal gardens including Nesfield’s famous maze and finely restored parterre. Enjoy cream teas and charming guides.
Fritton Lake Activities
Find well-being in Fritton Lake’s unspoilt sustainable wildland, beautiful wildlife and unrivaled, seasonal food. Due to Government guidance around Covid-19 not all our activities are live. Please check the activity calendar for details. During club opening times you can also enjoy canoeing, rowing, lawn tennis, Croquet, Petanque, running & cycling routes.
Activities at Fritton Lake include: Canoeing – Croquet – Lake Safari – Beach Volleyball – Rowing – Lawn Tennis – Trail Running – Paddleboarding – Wild Swimming – Yoga. OTHER FRITTON LAKE Activities – Watersports – Members enjoy exclusive access to Fritton Lake. The club offers wild swimming, paddle boarding, canoeing, sailing and rowing. Water skiing lessons are also available for limited periods to minimise disruption to the natural lake environment. The water sports club is open daily, weather dependent.
Swimming pool – Members can relax around the 22 metre pool all day from 10am until sunset, please see our timetable below for child free and lane swimming times. FAMILY ACTIVITES – Adventure play – As well as exploring the lake with their grown-ups, and running wild in our ancient woodland, children will love our adventure play areas. Older kids can whizz through the trees on our zip wire or down our giant slide. There is also a younger children’s play area with a smaller pool, bouncy pillow and play equipment for younger children to conquer. Children must be supervised at all times.
IMPROVE YOUR GAME – Clay & grass court tennis – The club has four tennis courts, a pair of lawn tennis courts, and two clay, one of which is a new ‘all-weather clay’ allowing for year-round play. Tennis coaching is available for all abilities to enhance any aspect of a player’s game. Classes & instructor-led activities – Our weekly classes include, wild swimming, trail running, dancercise and yoga. We also offer instructor lead activities including tennis, wild swimming, paddle boarding, water skiing and sailing. These can be booked as one on one, family or wider group tuition.
AROUND SOMERLEYTON – Beyond the estate – Walk to the Duke’s Head, our village pub on the river Waveney, or access the Norfolk Broads with a day boat hired from St Olaves. From here you can drift down to Somerleyton moorings, passing by our historic windmill along the way.

The Fritton Arms is at the heart of Fritton Lake and serves as our resort club house exclusively for members and guests. It serves expertly prepared, locally source seasonal menus and is open all day Thursday to Sunday and all week during the school holidays. Roaring fires and deep sofas through the winter and a south facing terrace and garden make it a friendly and relaxed place to visit. Book in advance to secure your table.
