The Ploughshare Pub Beeston is located in Beeston which is a village in the county of [Breckland] Norfolk, England, in the civil parish of Beeston with Bittering, west of East Dereham and south of Fakenham. It may also be known as Beeston All Saints or Beeston-next-Mileham to distinguish it from the three other villages in Norfolk named Beeston.
The Ploughshare Pub work has been completed in the bar, restaurant and coffee shop areas, the Ploughshare village shop will be ready soon, and we are now open serving up some great ales, beers, coffee, food, Sunday lunch, dinner,carvery, and more. The Ploughshare Pub is a great place to visit, eat and drink in Beeston, which is close by to Little Fransham, Great Dunham, Mileham, Scaring, Fakenham and the market town of Dereham. The Ploughshare Beeston has regular events including quiz nights, steak night and coffee mornings. The Ploghshare Pub has midweek specials and Saturday specials all for great value.

The Ploughshare Community Village Shop Beeston
The Plougshare community village shop is open from Tuesday to Saturday 9am-3pm The village shop stocks basic goods and groceries. The Ploughshare village shop also stock a variety of groceries, bread, cakes, eggs, including fresh fruit and vegetables produce sourced through CC Wells and meat from Willgress of Fransham. You can also order in advance on 01328 598995. The shop also stocks wine , spirits and local beers from Beeston Brewery and cider from Whin Hill Cider and cider.
Beeston’s pub [now The Ploughshare] can boast a history stretching back almost 500 years. There has been a pub, alehouse on the site of the Ploughshare since at least 1585. This was when Queen Elizabeth I was on the throne and Shakespeare was a boy! The oldest part of the current Ploughshare Pub building dates back to 1620 and is full of centuries of memories and village tradition. Beeston’s last remaining pub was under threat from redevelopment. The Ploughshare, which served locals for 400 years before its closure in 2016, was a staple of rural village life. Having brought the pub back from the brink of re-development into housing, Beeston Community Enterprises Ltd now looks to reopen the pub to the public which it now has. Beeston Community Enterprises was formed by a group of villagers in 2016 to purchase the pub and run it for the benefit of the area. More than £150,000 has been raised towards buying the building, which dates back to 1620. Plans include reopening the bar and restaurant, opening a cafe and small shop and offering community services. A combination of share offers, grants and loans, in addition to the initial £150,000 raised, enabled the purchase of the pub in late January 2019. Plans are now in place to refurbish the pub and make it the hub for our local community!
392nd Bomb Group
During the Second World War the American Airforce 392nd Bombardment Group were based at RAF Wendling on the outskirts of Beeston. Whilst the airfield was named after the nearest train station in our neighbouring village, it was Beeston public houses, including the Ploughshare that the American airmen frequented.
