About Glendower House Apartments DerehamWe renovated Glendower House and Apartments including its old servants quarters in 2007/8, and in 2011 decided to build an accommodation business here in the heart of beautiful Norfolk. Now we offer a range comfortable, clean and private apartments, each with their own front door, kitchen and bathroom. Perfect for couples, families and individuals. Bed linen and towels are provided, as is tea and coffee.
Over the years we’ve enjoyed the company of thousands of guests who have enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere and surprising peace considering our town centre proximity. We do hope you’ll choose to stay here very soon.A bit of history: Glendower House and Dereham enjoy a rich history. Glendower House was built on the site of Barnyards Mill over 100 years ago and has been home to wealthy merchants and traders. Glendower House is on Commercial Road which is a continuation of Cowper Road. Famous poet William Cowper is one of East Dereham’s most famous residents, and it was a relative of his who wrote a novel aboutOwen Glendower – just one explanation as to how the house may have been named.
The name Glendower is folk lore in Wales where Owen Glendower sought to make Wales the dominant force in the United Kingdom. Owen Glendower, with the help of the French, challenged the English who in return lay siege to the Welsh army – forcing them to retreat. Owen Glendower disappeared, and his fate is still a mystery today. Today Glendower House is directly adjacent to Dereham town centre – Britain’s 6th largest market town, right in the centre of Norfolk. Norfolk is rich in culture and landscape, enjoying beautiful beaches, forests and thriving market towns that still have a distinctly English personality. Glendower House is the ideal base to explore all that Norfolk has to offer

The Glendower Apartments Dereham Freehouse Pub ‘The Cock’ is just 200 yards from Glendower Guest Apartments, making it the perfect place to take a short walk to, then sit back, relax and have a drink. It’s a cosy and friendly locals pub with a great atmosphere, and it’s also dog friendly. We have a great Real Ale and Craft Beer range as well as a Gin Bar and, of course, a full range of other drinks.
We also serve a range of tea’s and coffee’s, and have snacks at the bar including rolls, savouries (including cheese boards) and fresh cakes.. For guests of ours with something to celebrate we can reserve a table or an area of the pub for you, and lay on food and drinks etc as required – all at very short notice. For larger more organised events we have the perfect solution in our Events Room. We are very flexible regarding preferred layout, and we can lay on buffet food, hot and cold. At our pub The Cock you’ll find a delicious selection of cooked breakfasts available from 9am until 11:30am Tuesday to Saturday every week.
