Dereham Windmill Dereham
Dereham Windmill is a Grade 2 listed Windmill. The windmill was lovingly restored by the Dereham Windmill Charity Trustees. We are the last of several windmills in the Dereham District. Dereham Windmill is located in Cherry Lane (near the Neatherd High School) and is a five-storey masonry tower mill with a boat shaped cap winded by a six bladed fantail. We had asked the pupils/children what they wanted the windmill to be and (alongside amazing suggestions like a Helter Skelter!) they want to be able to hold exhibitions such as displaying their Art Work, Photography, Artefact Displays and to hold events between the schools. This would be in addition to visiting the Windmill to learn more about our history. In September 2013, the pupils’ dream was made a reality as the Windmill was officially opened as an exhibition space for local pupils’ work with information on the Windmill’s History.

Help Us
Dereham Windmill are always looking for supporters who would also like to see it used once again. If you would like to help, you can either become a ‘Friend of the Windmill’ or, if you prefer, give in the form of a donation. A Trustee – Is a person who is elected on an annual basis by the Friends to form with other Trustees a committee which will meet regularly to ensure the propriety and governance aspects of the Windmill Charity. A Friend of the Windmill [FODW]– A group of like-minded people who help by providing support and voluntary assistance to the Trustees as and when required. This support does not mean that you are obliged to volunteer for everything, in fact you can just join and keep up to date with how the charity is doing by the newsletters or friendly ‘get togethers’.
