The Norwich Puppet Theatre is an excellent introduction to the magic of theatre and with original shows, activities, workshops and masterclasses for all ages, we are a great family fun days out at one of Norwich and Norfolk’s great visitor attractions..We are situated inside a converted medieval church and the Theatre is one of only three building-based puppet theatres in the whole of England. Norwich Puppet Theatre is home to a great family of puppets spanning over 30 years.
We produce new shows for families and children which play in Norwich before touring the UK and internationally. The Theatre is dedicated to championing this special art form and we host adult shows and talent development masterclasses for theatre makers, performers and puppeteers alike.

The Theatre’s spaces can also be hired. Both the main theatre and the smaller Octagon Studio theatre are available for hiring. Creative Learning at Norwich Puppet Theatre
As one of the only professional venue-based producing theatres in Norwich, We offer a uniquely diverse and high quality range of learning experiences. In normal circumstances we can deliver a wide variety of hands-on experiences in the classroom, at other venues or in the Theatre including Puppet Making, Shadow Play, Show & Tells with our fascinating puppet collection, and back-stage or heritage tours. We can also provide drop-in workshops for large events, festivals and community projects.
We are currently reviewing our Creative Learning offer and are looking to develop ways we can still work with school and other groups. Wedding Ceremonies at the Norwich Puppet theatre. Whether your special day is a wedding, a civil partnership, a renewal of vows or a naming ceremony, Norwich Puppet Theatre offers a unique setting for you and your guests. The Theatre is in the converted Grade 1 listed church of St James, and offers two distinct options for your ceremony. Get married on the stage of our Main Theatre with seating for any number of guests up to 150. The setting is a blend of mediaeval tradition with the excitement and style of a professional theatre.
For smaller and more intimate gatherings then The Octagon Studio is ideal for up to 30 people in a more contemporary setting. Whichever room you choose for your ceremony the foyer area and grounds around the Theatre are available for you and your guests for photographs and to mingle.
