Norwich Theatre Royal is the largest and most successful theatre in the East Of England. With over 400 performances yearly and over 400,000 attending there is something for everyone of all ages.  Theatre Royal Norwich has 1300 seats, two bars, two function rooms and a cafe/restaurant and all fully accessible. Theatre Royal Norwich is a great Norfolk attraction.

Booking online is the quickest and easiest route to booking your tickets. However, you can also book your tickets by phone or in person at our Box Office, which is situated in the foyer. FAQs
What happens if I mislay, or don’t receive, my tickets? If you have mislaid your tickets ,or they haven’t arrived, then please get in touch with our Box Office team on 01603 630000 who will issue duplicates for you to collect on the day of the performance, free of charge. Can I book an access space i.e. wheelchair online? Wheelchair spaces can only be booked by calling us or coming in person to the box office at the theatre.
Should I buy a ticket through a 3rd party ticket agency? (such as See Tickets, Ticketmaster, Eventbrite or Stubhub) – We do not typically sell our tickets through 3rd party ticket agencies. However, some productions do give an allocation of tickets to 3rd parties for their shows. Please note that purchasing tickets on these sites may incur extra charges and we do not take responsibility for tickets sold outside of our Box Office.
Can I take photographs in the auditorium during the show? Photography and recording equipment is prohibited in the auditorium due to copyright law and to minimise any disturbance to the performers and other audience members. Can I take food and drinks into the auditorium? Drinks can be taken in the auditorium as long as they are in a clear plastic bottles. No glassware is to be taken into the auditorium. Sweets are allowed (we suggest a pick n mix cup to minimise distracting noise). No hot food is permitted in the auditorium. .I’m bringing my child – do you have booster seats available? At Norwich Theatre Royal we have a limited number of booster seats available from via the Welcome Point (open 2 hours prior to a performance). For children’s shows a dedicated distribution point will be setup with signs. We would recommend that you arrive early if your child requires one. How long is the performance? We don’t always have running times for the performance. Any running times we have will be published on our website and displayed around the building on our plasma screens as your arrive.
Do you have somewhere I can eat? We do not offer any hot food at Norwich Theatre Playhouse or Norwich Theatre Stage Two. We do offer food at our newly refurbished restaurant Prelude. Offering a range of dishes to suit all tastes using fresh, locally sourced produce. Prelude is open to all patrons and visitors from 9,30am to close, or for theatre dining from 2 hours 30 minutes before matinee performances and 2 hours before evening performances. Do you have somewhere I can drink and pre-order drinks? We have two bars at Norwich Theatre Royal. One is situated on the Ground Floor and the other is on the 2nd Floor. At Norwich Theatre Playhouse we have a bar situated on the ground floor. All our Bars offer a wide selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, draught lager, and a range of hot drinks. All drinks in sealed plastic containers can be consumed in the Royal & Playhouse auditorium. Please note that glass are not permitted in the auditorium.

The Playroom An intimate, quieter place away from the busy hustle and bustle of the bar. Great for catching up with friends pre-theatre show, getting on with some work with free WIFI or just relaxing. The Playroom is occasionally available for hire for informal meetings, social events and private views. Norwich Theatre Bars – You’ll receive a warm welcome in either of the Theatre Royal’s two bars which service the circle and the stalls. The circle bar is a great place to meet pre-show for a drink or a bite to eat from our hot and cold buffet (excl Sundays). We also have freshly made sandwiches and cakes available. The stalls bar opens an hour before the show ideal for a quick drink and chat before the performance begins.
Bar Menu – Our hot buffet is served from 12.30pm on matinee days and from 5.30pm on evening shows offering various hot dishes including jacket potatoes, chilli, pasta and salads. NB Not available before Sunday performances.Â

Our doors may be shut but there are still plenty of activities for you to get involved in. Due to the current restrictions, we have adapted our Take Part programme to include a combination of onsite activity at Norwich Playhouse and remote activity delivered online.
