The Dads Army Museum Thetford will be closed until further notice. We hope to open for the 2021 season in March.
The Dads Army Museum is a Thetford Norfolk Attraction and great Family Day Out and something to do with the kids. Since The Dad’s Army Museum Thetford opened in December 2007, the Dad’s Army Museum has gone from strength to strength. Today thousands of visitors, both local and holiday makers, make their way to Thetford (Walmington-on-Sea) each year to see where the series was filmed and to learn more about one of the most enduring comedy programmes ever produced.
The Dads Army Museum Thetford is independently run by an enthusiastic and dedicated platoon of volunteers. The Dads Army Museum is open every Saturday from March 23rd – November 30th and on Tuesdays in Norfolk School Holidays (April 9th, 16th, May 28th & October 22nd) and all Tuesdays in July, August & September. Opening times are 10 am until 3 pm and entry free (donations welcome). Dogs welcome at the Dads army Museum. The Statue of Arthur Lowe (Captain Mainwaring) is in front of the Light Cinema in Thetford, while Corporal Jones`s Van is on display from Easter Sunday until October at the Charles Burrell Museum Minstergate Thetford. The Dads Army Museum also organise private visits for coach groups, talks and tours – by prior arrangement only and subject to availability. The Dads Army Museum offer tickets and gift vouchers for the walking tours and coach tours around Thetford (Walmington on Sea) viewing some of the filming locations used in the Dads Army TV series. Dad’s Army walking tours start at the Charles Burrell Museum in Minstergate then take in the many filming locations used around the Thetford town centre, the bronze statue of Captain Mainwaring, Jones’s van and end at the Museum. The total time to allow for the walking tour and museum visit is 2 hours. The coach tour leaves the museum at 10 am and last all day finishing at approx. 4 pm.You can become a ‘friend’ of the Dads Army Museum? Shop At The Dad’s army Museum Thetford
The Dads Army Museum Thetford shop aim to despatch in a week, but as the museum is closed most orders will be collected on a Saturday and posted on the Monday, there may be delays due to the current situation.Tours will be sent by e ticket unless paper ticket required. All prices include standard UK postage. For overseas orders please proceed as normal and we will invoice you with any additional delivery charges. Extra overseas postage is charged on a seperate Paypal invoice.
Last date for Christmas orders will be Friday December 11th, tour tickets will still be available. Tour and coach tickets will be sent by email (e ticket). If a tour has sold out the ticket option for that date will be removed, all tour places will be confirmed. Museum mugs are sent in postal poly boxes, gift boxes are only available in the museum shop.

Marigold Tea Room
The Dads army Museum Thetford Cafe The marigold Tea room. The beautiful 1940s style Marigold Tea Rooms opened in 2011 and is an essential part of any visit to the Museum. You’ll love our home made wartime recipe cakes and tea from British made Brown Betty teapots. Last orders are taken at 2.30pm, all cakes are subject to availability. See the specials board in the tea room. Limited opening on the Tuesdays that we are open.
