Thetford Golf Club Norfolk was founded in 1912, it is regarded as one of the premier courses in Norfolk East Anglia. Thetford Golf Club is situated near the Brandon Road about a mile from Thetford Town Centre. The course was constructed on an open sandy heath known as Thetford Warren, which as the name suggests, was land used to breed rabbits for their fur and meat many years ago. The 18 hole 6,000 yd course was designed by Charles Mayo and later improvements have been made by Philip Ross-MacKenzie and James Braid. Thetford Golf Course is situated less than a quarter of a mile from the dual-carriageway A11, Thetford Golf Club is set in a magnificent Breckland forest area of East Anglia. The challenging 18 hole, 6,849 yards, par 72 course is a delight to play and is reputed to be one of the best in the region. The superb drainage makes play possible for 52 weeks of the year. The course is a haven for wildlife and we make a conscious effort to protect the natural habitat of the birds, insects and animals on a Site of Special Scientific Interest.

Especially delightful are the little muntjac deer, which you may see grazing in the shadows of the trees. Many have become so used to golfers that they come up to feed from you hand. There are similarly tame pheasants and squirrels, as well as families of hares and at the start and end of the day you can often see our herd of fallow deer. Experienced pro shop staff, first class caterers and the club’s administration team ensure a warm welcome to Thetford and we will do out best to make your day one to remember.
Facilities
Indoor Swing Studio – We opened the Indoor Swing Studio at the beginning of last year and it has proved popular with our members and also with beginners. We can provide a comprehensive swing diagnosis using the latest technology. The GC2 launch monitor displays all aspects of ball-striking. It can be used for Gapping Sessions and also for custom-fit of new clubs as well as tutored practice sessions. The Practice Ground – We have a grass practice area which is 130 yards wide and 250 yards long with flags at vaious distances. You can choose to hit off the grass or from one of our range matts, either way this is the perfect area for you to improve your long game.
The Short Game Area – This area is perfect for all short game practice with a grass tee to practice your pitching on with greens at 70,95 and 120 yards. A 4th green with two bunkers on and another bunker 50 yards back, and some lovely little bumps around the green to practice those tricky little chips. Up by the large putting green you will also find another chipping green which is perfect to use just before you tee off. Putting Greens – We have two putting greens, one is a smaller one with little burrow and the other is a large green with plenty of slope to really test your skills.

Events – Functions – Party’s
A number of social events are organised for members and the Thetford Golf Club facilities are available to hire for outside functions. The House manager will be delighted to offer advice and quote prices for weddings, wedding receptions, birthday parties, engagement parties, christenings, stag night and do’s, hen nights and do’s, Christmas parties, new years eve parties or other events, special occasions and celebrations with private bar prices and a full range of catering provisions available.
Thetford Golf Club Clubhouse
Thetford Golf Club have replaced the Clubhouse roof in 2016 and with the addition of the patio and decking areas it has made the approach to the 18th hole very attractive. In fine weather groups of players enjoy a drink in the sunshine and within sight of the final green. If it is not quite so warm the view is equally good from the Clubhouse lounge or from the first-floor restaurant, which has glorious views along the 6th and 18th holes. Drinks and bar meals are available from 10am to 6pm while coffee is available at all times.
